Mastering Silicone Teething Toy Cleaning: Pro Tips for Sparkling Results!
Baby teethers can find their way onto floors, beds, prams and even into the mouths of pets. Because silicone soothers are constantly in babies' mouths, hygiene and safety are extremely important, so they should be cleaned as often as possible to keep them clean and germ-free.
When you receive a new silicone teether that you are sure is safe for your baby to chew on, remember to clean it thoroughly before giving it to your baby. Silicone is anti-microbial and dishwasher safe. You can wash the silicone teether in warm, soapy water and rinse thoroughly or simply put it in the dishwasher.
Any toy that gets wet (e.g. from chewing) is likely to have fungi growing in and on it. So it's a good idea to thoroughly clean and disinfect your teethers from time to time. Here are some common ways to clean and sterilise silicone teethers.
Boiling hot water - Just like bottles and teats, you can boil silicone soothers. This is an old method that is safe for cleaning and sterilising your baby's teether. Silicone has excellent temperature resistance, so the teether will not deform or be damaged in hot water.
Sterilising Steam Bags- Steam quickly spreads to all surfaces of the teether, it can effectively kill 99.99% of bacteria in just a few minutes.
UV Steriliser- UV light can also effectively kill the bacteria on the surface of the product. But it can only kill germs on the surface it can shine directly on, and it takes a much longer time.
White vinegar and water - mix white vinegar and water in a spray bottle, spray on teething toys, then wipe and clean with a cloth. You can also soak the toys in the mixture for a while.
Baking soda and water - Baking soda and water are generally safe options for sanitising and cleaning your baby's teether.
Dishwasher - Silicone teethers are dishwasher safe. You can simply put them in the top rack of your dishwasher. But remember to double-check to make sure there is no unwanted soap left on them.
