Excellent temperature resistance and flexibility
Temperature resistance and flexibility are two excellent properties of silicone. Depending on the variant, the material can withstand temperatures from -150 to 550 degrees Fahrenheit before becoming brittle or melting. It has a tensile strength of 200 to 1500 PSI and a maximum elongation of 700%.
Low compression set
Due to its low degree of stress relaxation, silicone rubber retains its original shape when compressed for long periods. Once released, it returns to nearly 100% of its normal size with minimal permanent deformation. This is important in sealing and sealing applications where memory is critical.
Excellent weather resistance and UV resistance
Silicone rubber is highly resistant to damage caused by sunlight, ozone, and weather. It can be used outdoors for 30-50 years without damage. The silicon-oxygen bond is too stable and not easily destroyed by ultraviolet light. Some surface dulling or chalking may occur, but physical properties will not be affected.

Chemically inert
Silicone rubber is unaffected by most chemicals and solvents, including acids, bases, oils and greases. Only strong bases or polar solvents (such as acetone) may cause swelling or damage on prolonged contact. Non-polar silicon-oxygen bonds and stable polymer structure provide excellent chemical resistance.
Low conductivity
Silicone rubber is an effective electrical insulator and does not easily conduct heat or electricity. Silicon oxygen atoms have high resistivity due to the lack of free electrons in their bonds.
Biocompatibility
Certain silicones are bioinert and compatible with medical devices and healthcare applications. Platinum-cured silicones that meet USP Class VI and ISO 10993 standards are commonly used in products such as catheters, tubes, and bandages that come into contact with the body.
